Dear Parents and Caregivers
Current year six students who can read standard staff music notation and already play woodwind, brass, percussion, electric bass, violin, viola, cello and double bass are invited to the Instrumental Music Orientation Day on Thursday, November 10th. The purpose of the day is to familiarize student musicians with their future College, ensuring a confident transition into the Instrumental Music Program. Students from over twenty primary schools will participate in a range of activities that give them the broadest musical view of what to expect in the coming year. Other students, who want to learn a new musical instrument or receive lessons for piano, guitar or voice should fill in the Enrolment Form and list Term 1, 2023 as their starting date.
Students will begin arriving at the Shalom Performing Arts Precinct from 8:00am. They will be welcomed into the theatre at 8.30am and then allocated to a Concert Band or String Orchestra. The music will be fun and playable! The day will include ensemble workshops, friendly interaction with Shalom musicians and a thorough familiarization with the Performing Arts Precinct. The groups will rehearse in preparation for the afternoon concert at 4:00pm.
Shalom will provide afternoon tea but students will need to bring their own morning tea and lunch. Those students wishing to buy food for morning tea and/or lunch must place their order at the tuckshop between 8.00am and 8.30am. Students are to wear their primary school uniform and bring their instrument. Students will not need to bring their own music stand.
