Pentaris is home to a large variety of races that comes in all shapes, sizes, appearances, and all have their unique cultures and abilities proper to them.
Some of these races are divided into subraces due to large variations in physicality, appearance, and abilities.
The common species typically resemble or share multiple traits with humans, and they can all intermingle with one another to create half-breeds with no complications or problems. They can be found everywhere and are the most common races on Pentaris.
The elven species, or Elvenkind, are the ancient denizens of Vesteria and those who founded many of the civilizations that are now lost on the continent. Having a longer lifespan than humans and being of great beauty, elves have fallen from grace since the days of their vast empires. Like the humanoid species, most elves can intermingle with one another, and they can also intermingle with those of the common species as well.
Hailing from the Akhavarian Reaches, those of the orcish species are seen as uncivilized savage barbarians that live in caves and feast upon the flesh of man. In truth, Orcs and Goblins are a misunderstood race of hearthy people who live in one of the harshest regions on Pentaris. In the most advances of population centers such as metropolis and large capitals, orcs are not given a second glance, however not the same can be said of their goblin cousins.
The Beastfolk races typically resemble sapient, humanoid animals. They are uncommon in civilized lands and tend to remain in wilderness away from large cities. The rare few beastfolk found within cities are considered part of a second-rate species by those of the more common races due to their animalistic features.
Given life by the Devils, those of the Infernal Species are granted an unholy life by their infernal creators in exchange of hellish servitude. Rare are those of infernal bodies that fall to light and holiness, but those that exist are uplifted into the heights of society.
Given life by the Gods, those of the Celestial Species are granted eternal life by their divine creators in exchange of holy servitude. Rare are those of celestial bodies that fall to corruption and darkness, but those that exist are shunned into the depths of society.
Uncommon races that hail from a specific region and rare in numbers, many other species exists in Pentaris than those mentioned above. These species could not be grouped with the other species, vary greatly from one another, and share no common traits with each other.
