Violist and Curator - Daniela Gassi Mover and Collaborator - Shaaray Sharif
Sound Moves is an improvised collaboration between a mover and a violist that explores how movement and sound can grow and change together, along with the relationship between the two performers. It’s really about a conversation: sometimes the dancer’s movements respond to the viola’s rhythms and textures, and other times the musician shifts their playing based on the dancer’s energy and presence.
This give-and-take creates a loop where neither movement nor sound takes control. Instead, they constantly influence and reshape each other. At the core of the piece is the connection between the two artists — built through trust, careful listening, and openness — which allows fresh ideas and moments to emerge naturally.
Sound Moves shows how collaboration depends on empathy and communication, and how movement, sound, and human connection can come together to create a real time conversation between different forms of art.
