Short Film
Mundane explores the quiet weight of racial microaggressions — the seemingly small, everyday moments that slowly accumulate and press down on the lives of people of colour. Set against the backdrop of daily routines, the film traces the subtle, often overlooked experiences that many are forced to navigate just to move through the world.
What might appear ordinary to some becomes a space of tension for others. A comment, a glance, a question, Mundane reveals how these interactions, though rarely intended to harm, build up over time and leave a lasting impact. The film speaks to the exhausting pressure to fit in, to stay composed, to not "make a scene" — even when one's identity is being chipped away in slow, quiet ways.
At its heart, Mundane is about visibility, exhaustion, and the deep desire to belong without compromise. It asks its audience to look closer, to consider the invisible labour many people of colour perform just to be accepted, and to reflect on how even the most casual encounters can carry complex weight.
This film is a call for empathy, for awareness, and for change — a reminder that for some, what’s mundane is anything but.
