It’s My House explores the corrupt power dynamics sustaining the oppressive cycles that cause individuals to internalise blame, shame, and control. It examines how societal structures rooted in classism, sexism, and other intersecting systems of control, encourage people not only to criticise themselves, but to project that criticism onto others and those around them. Through movement, sound, and spoken word, the piece interrogates the ways in which power operates in everyday society. It’s My House challenges the audience to consider who controls and creates these cycles and how we may be unaware of our complicity in fulfilling them.
