The DA-BSWM partnered with three Small Water Irrigation Systems Association (SWISA) in 2018-2020 to establish a technology demonstration (TD) site intended to promote the adoption of the fertilizer guide for rice. The TD showcased organic-based fertilization or the use of a combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers. With the aid of a customized soil health card, the 63 farmer-cooperators were guided as to the kind, amount, and timing of fertilizer application with consideration of the variety of seed and planting season.

Inception Briefings
In 2018, an inception briefing was held to formalize the partnership through the ceremonial signing of the pledge of commitment with the farmer-cooperators and the distribution of fertilizer inputs. It also served as an avenue to discuss the fertilizer guide as contained in the soil health cards and farmers' diaries that were provided.
Technical briefing was also conducted prior to planting every cropping season. The aim was to discuss the production data of the previous cropping and ascertain the biotic and abiotic factors that may have impacted production.
The briefings were attended by the cooperators, other officers and members of the SWISA, and officials and staff of the Barangay Council, Municipal Agriculture Office (OMA) and Provincial Agriculture Office (OPA).
The Soil Health Card and Farmer's Diary
Soil Health Card is a personalized card per farmer-cooperator containing information about the soil test result and the directions for the fertilizer guide
Farmers' Diary provided to aid the cooperators keep track or record farm activities was emphasized to ensure more accurate data/information.

Harvest Festival: A Thanksgiving Day
Occidental Mindoro
Bohol
To celebrate and conclude a fruitful partnership, a harvest festival was held at each TD. The event kicked off with a thanksgiving mass at the barangay chapel. Participants and guests were then ushered to the TD site for the ceremonial harvest and that was followed by a closing program at the barangay hall .
Leading the activity were the farmer-cooperators and SWISA officers. Also gracing the events were officials and staff from the Barangay Council, MLGU, PLGU, DA-RFO and the DA-BSWM.

Summary of Production Data
OCCIDENTAL MINDORO, 2018-2019
Techno Demo vs Farmers' Practice
Average Fertilizer Usage and Yield
In general, yield was relatively the same as the farmers' practice despite a decrease in fertilizer usage by 38.0-42.0%. With less fertilizer inputs, income increased by 4.5-25.9%.
2018 Cropping Season
Wet Season (May - Oct. 2018):
Decreased fertilizer usage by 42.0% or equivalent to less 4.16 bags/ha;
Yield decreased by 9.4% (0.52 tons/ha). Cooperators attributed lower yield to the seed variety used (cultivar 2021 and genetic);
Nonetheless, income increased by 4.5%.
Dry season (Dec. 2018 - Apr. 2019):
Decreased fertilizer usage by 38.0% or equivalent to less 3.52 bags/ha;
Slight increase in yield by 0.09 tons/ha;
Resulting in increased income by 25.9%.
2019 Cropping Season
Wet season (May - Sept. 2019):
Slight decrease in yield by 2.5% (0.14 tons/ha) due to Typhoon Ursula;
Nonetheless, income increased by 17.2%.
Dry season (Dec. 2019 - Mar. 2020)
Yield decreased by 9.5% (0.74 tons/ha), attributed to crop lodging during the reproductive stage due to heavy rainfall and strong winds as well as pest infestation;
Nonetheless, income increased by 7.2%.
BOHOL, 2018-2020
Techno Demo vs Farmers' Practice
Average Fertilizer Usage and Yield
In general, the increase in fertilizer usage by 53.6-86.5% translated into an increase in yield (61.2-65.1%) and income (131.8-135.0%).
2018 Cropping Season
Wet Season (Jul. - Nov. 2018)

Income increased by 131.8%
2019 Cropping Season
Wet Season (Aug. - Dec. 2019)
Prolonged dry spell in the Province severely affected 92.7% or 13.9 ha of the TD;

Dry Season
Planting period was terminated due to drought and shifted to 2020 wet season to avoid crop failure.
2020 Cropping Season
Note: The PAO provided seeds (Hybrid - Long Ping ) as a counterpart
TD vs Municipal and Provincial Average Yield
2020 Wet Season
Attained a yield of 5.67 tons/ha. This was higher by 31.9% and 23.8% than the municipal (4.30 tons/ha) and provincial (4.58 tons/ha) average yield respectively.
