Mandai 83

10th/11th Highest Hill in Singapore. This may be the highest hill in Singapore without a proper name. I have provisionally named it Mandai 83 until I can get hold of some sort of name for it. With Bukit Mandai decimated, this hill is currently the highest point in the Mandai/Marsiling area. (Note: Not to be confused with Bukit Mandai)

Part of the 2010 1:50,000 topographical map of Singapore [retrieved from libmaps.nus.edu.sg].

Height: 83 m [Spot height according to the map: Singapore Series SMU 075, Edition 11 (Mapping Unit, Ministry of Defense, Singapore, 2017)]

Location: 1°25'22.2"N 103°46'58.1"E

Route to Summit: The Hill is currently within the SAF Mandai training area, (technically out of bounds) so enter at your on risk. Lorong Asrama and Stephen Lee road both skirt past the flanks of this hill. From either of them, a dirt path can be found to go up till near the summit You have to walk through some vegetation to reach the summit, topped with some small boulders, under the shade of a small grove.

Other Names: Non that I know of yet. Mandai 83 is just a provisional name I have given, from the most recent height given on the SMU maps.

History:

The earliest map that I know of that has a altitude attached to the hill is a 1970 survey map published by the Singapore Government in 1970. On it was labelled 274 ft (or ~83.5 m).

Remnants of a rubber tree plantation can be found on the east slope. From the signs of more recent activity, the east slope of the hill seems to be used as a field camp for military training.

Other Information: There is another hill in the Central Catchment Area that is of similar height and could even be slightly higher than Mandai 83. Having said that, Bukit Peirce and Mt Serapong which are listed as 9th and 8th highest, respectively, are also of similar height. So future more accurate measurements may shuffle the height order a bit.
