We will see you on Sunday, September 27 for our next class!
1. What is Faith Formation?
Faith Formation is the process of helping children, teens, and adults grow in their Catholic faith through learning, prayer, and community. It includes preparation for the sacraments as well as ongoing opportunities to deepen one’s relationship with Christ.
2. At what age can my child start Faith Formation?
Programs begin as early as our class for toddlers. Traditional formation begins in Kindergarten. From there, we offer age-appropriate programs all the way through high school, along with adult programs in English and Spanish.
3. Do I need to be a parish member to enroll my child?
While we welcome all families, we strongly encourage parish registration so you and your family can be fully connected to the life of our church.
4. How do I register my child for Faith Formation?
Registration is typically available online or through the parish office. The deadline for the 2026-2027 school year is September 1, 2026.
5. What if my child hasn’t attended Faith Formation before or is older than the usual age for a sacrament?
That’s no problem! We have special programs like OCIC designed to help children catch up and prepare for full initiation into the Church.
6. When do classes meet?
Classes are scheduled twice a month during the school year, usually the second and fourth Sunday of the month from 10:30am-12noon. Download our calendar from the Program Resources page!
7. Are parents involved in the program?
Yes! Parents are the primary teachers of the faith. Our program encourages parents to participate by providing them formation, attending family events, and engaging with their children in sacramental preparation.
8. How much does the program cost?
There is a fee to cover books and materials, as well as an additional one for any sacraments. Financial assistance is available for families in need - no child will ever be turned away due to cost.
9. What if my child has special learning needs?
We welcome all children! Please let us know how we can best support your child. We are committed to adapting lessons and working with families so every child can grow in faith. We have a staff member trained in special education who would love to work with you on a plan! Contact Maddie with questions or information.
10. What sacraments do children prepare for in Faith Formation?
Children prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion (usually in 2nd grade), and for Confirmation (in grades 6+ this year).
11. Can older teens or adults receive sacraments if they haven’t yet?
Yes! We offer OCIC for children and OCIA for adults who want to continue their faith journey or complete their sacraments. Please contact Diane with questions on either.
12. Who teaches the classes?
Our classes are led by dedicated catechists - volunteers and parish staff who are trained to share the faith with children and adults in age-appropriate and engaging ways.
13. What if we can’t make every class?
We understand that life is busy. However, consistent participation is important for your child’s formation and especially important for sacraments. Please let us know if scheduling is a concern, and we’ll work with you to find solutions.
15. How can I get more information?
You can contact the parish office directly, email one of us, or visit our parish website for updates and details.
