Who Comes to Dance?
You do NOT have to be
an Orange County resident
to participate in this program.
ALL AGES are welcome
(all children, supervised)
These programs are designed for the moderately active body. We pull from an over 250 dance repertoire. Each dance is about 2-4 minutes long, so you can take as many dance-length breaks as you need to as you build up your stamina. Join us for 90 minutes of aerobic exercise, follow along, behind the line, study weight changes, OR just watch. You can always bring your knitting and enjoy the music, too.
There is ample space in this room for maneuvering with rollator, cane, or a wheel chair. We are committed to making this dance activity as barrier-free as possible, with respect to visual, auditory, and other challenges.
We are a "plug and play," open-house club. You should be able to plug yourself in and play, as you desire, on the schedule you have. It is also self-serve, where you learn dances at your own pace. We also provide home-study options, like links, for when you need to remain at home, temporarily or when you need to catch up on what you missed. You may attend either, any, or all, of our folk dance sessions at the Seymour Center.
Equipment: For those with rubber soled shoes on any dance floor, we recommend using "shoe socks." One place to get these is here https://thedancesocks.com/products/the-dancesocks-smooth-floors?srsltid=AfmBOoqgreLIH4XpTK15OBasGoLY_iItst4wqgG0G-JIN2MICM1llX-h We don't do a lot of turning, but some folks with knee issues like using these on their shoes. Dancers also can take a pair of althetic shoes to a shoe repair place and have them glue on suede to make comfortable dance shoes.
