The theme ‘Down to Earth – Grounding matters’ roots for reconnecting with ‘nature’ and the world around us. It is only when we open our hearts to the wondrous simplicity and complexity of this ‘earth’ that sustains humans and all of life that we feel a sense of belonging, of understanding that everything we do, matters.
Nature is magnificient and glorious, and far ahead of us humans: it runs flawlessly on sunlight, uses only what is necessary, recycles everything cleanly, values cooperation and diversity, and focuses on the local while limiting excesses and power.
As we explored our Shiksha theme for the year 2022, ' Down to Earth- Grounding Matters', it opened our hearts to the threads that connect us:
You are the sun and the rain, the water and the plants, the birds and the animals. There is no such thing as 'nature' apart from you and me. You are nature, I am nature, just as you are me, and I am you.
Our middle school students visited, identified and researched on the plant species of the Vande Matram Park.
