At the Shed we have made a speciality of repairing or making Benches. Mostly we use reclaimed materials and enhance this with some new wood when necessary or when appropriate. Here are some that we have made in the last year or so.....
This one is a one off unusual style bench with Iron frame, an Oak slat seat and a back made from sections of "Pippy" Oak which has some interesting marks called "cats paws" caused when they tin out the wood around the tree. The consequent light causes little branches to form and hence the markings on the wood. It is 4 feet wide. This is a totally unique piece.
A 3rd bench made from a Baby cot. This one is actively in use at a local building project and will stay until the project is finished and then it will be available for visitors to the site to use.
A lovely Bench made from an old baby's cot with a padded seat added.
A Bench made from a mixture of reclaimed materials. The back is the side of an old baby's cot. the legs are pieces that have sat in a member's garage for 30 years and the arms are from a couple of old carver dining chairs.
A set of 4 chairs made from some reclaimed iron ends and new Oak slats. We then added a table and made a complete patio dining set.
A bench made from the backs of two old dining chairs that were being scrapped and a seat added made form some slats from an old bed. A padded seat has been added.
