Library plays a vital role in the search of knowledge. It serves as the workshop for the entire College – students and faculty alike.
Shailendra College Library aims to support the teaching learning activity in the college and also provide the students updated knowledge and to ensure the optimum utilization of the available resources. Our mission is “Prajvalito Jnanamayo Pradeepah” which itself signifies the importance of Library in the College environment.
The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is situated on the top floor of the college wing. It occupies about 1934 sq. ft. and can accommodate about 100 students at a time. The library is provided with proper ventilation, lightning & fans. The LRC was renovated in the year 2015.
Library is fully computerized with the implementation of SOUL (Library software from INFLIBNET) along with Bar code system. It is upgraded to SOUL 2.0.0.12
The library has subscribed N-List program of INFLIBNET, an IUC Centre of UGC, through which we can access 6000 e-journals and 199500 e-books through N-List and 600000 e-books through NDL .
Library publishes "Reverberation" journal with ISSN no. 2454-1494
Purchased 22 volumes World Book Encyclopedia
Purchased two Kindle readers for the students to access e-books.
Two library cards are given to the students at the time of admission to borrow textbooks, General books & Periodicals.
Special card given to the students doing professional courses like ICAI, ICWA, ICSI etc.
Scholar card to the SY and TY students who achieve excellence in their studies
Annual membership to Ex–students of the College
Reading membership to external graduates pursuing professional courses.
Visiting membership to the students of other Colleges to use the Library for their reference work.
A Voice recorder has been kept in the library to record notes and reading material for Blind students.
Open access is offered to library's collection

Preferece in the Book Bank facility to Divyangjan students
Regular display of new arrivals in the library; Newspaper cuttings on Career guidance, current topics.
Free Internet access to students and staff. A separate hub for internet access is installed in the library.
Books are purchased on recommendation of Staff and Students.
The library is secured with three CCTV cameras.
The Library also offers internship to the candidates’ pursuing Master in Library and Information Science.
The Library sends its staff for training to upgrade them.
At the circulation counter, two computers, one wireless barcode reader and barcode printer are available for the ease of computerized circulation system.
The Research Center / Staff reading room is equipped with three computers and one printer. It is also stocked with reference books. The library also procures books as per the requirements of research students as well as lecturers who are doing the Ph.D..
Books are also purchased through UGC grants and kept in separate cupboards purchased under the grant.
A Photocopy machine is also available in the library.
Librarian’s cabin is equipped with one computer and one all in one printer-scanner and copier machine.
A Projector Screen is available in the library which is used for students’ presentation, screening of documentaries.
Library had purchased video lectures in the subject of ‘Operations Research’ for TYBMS students.
In the library, every table is having electrical switch and provision of LAN facility.

The Birth Anniversary of Late President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is celebrated as "Reading Inspiration Day".
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam (15 October 1931 – 27 July 2015) was an Indian aerospace scientist and politician who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamilnadu and studied physics and aerospace engineering. He spent 40 years as a Scientist and Science administrator, DRDO and ISRO . He known as the Missile Man of India for his work.
Puthuvayil Narayana Panicker is known as the Father of the Library movement in the Indian state of Kerala. June 19th is celebrated as “National Reading Day” to honour the life and works of P.N.Panicker. The activities of the Kerala Grandhasala Sangham initiated by him led to a popular cultural movement in Kerala which gave rise to universal literacy in the state in the 1990s.
