Aggression
Goal- Prevent escalation by teaching skills and maintaining a predictable environment.
Strategy- Integrate SEL curriculum focused on identifying emotions, managing anger, solving conflicts
Example- Whole class role-plays: "What to do when someone makes you mad at recess."
Defiance
Goal- Build a cooperative classroom culture and reduce power struggles.
Strategy- Use of consistent expectations + reinforcing positive compliance.
Example- Instead of "Stop talking," use "When I see you listening quietly, I know you're ready- thank you."
Impulsivity
Goal- Build an environment that supports attention for all learners.
Strategies- Visual schedules, timer for work completion, frequent breaks, task chunking, active participation
Example- Teacher uses call-and-response cues and proximity prompts.
