AdFreeGPT ("the extension," "we," "our") is a browser extension that hides sponsored ad cards on chatgpt.com. This page explains what data the extension does and does not handle.

Summary

We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. Everything the extension does happens locally, inside your own browser.

What the extension stores

The extension uses Chrome's chrome.storage.local API to store exactly two values, on your device only:

A blocking on/off flag — remembers whether you've paused or resumed ad blocking, so your choice persists across browser restarts.

A hidden-ad counter — a running count of how many ad cards have been hidden, shown to you in the extension's popup.

Neither value is linked to your identity, synced to any account, sent to any server, or shared with any third party. Nothing leaves your browser.

What the extension does NOT do

Does not collect personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.)

Does not collect browsing history, search queries, or activity on any site other than chatgpt.com

Does not use analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting services

Does not use cookies

Does not sell or share data with advertisers or data brokers

Does not inject its own ads or tracking scripts

Does not run on, or request access to, any website other than chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com

How the extension works (for transparency)

A content script runs only on chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com. It scans the page's visible content for the "Ad" label OpenAI's sponsored cards display, and hides the matching element with CSS. This check happens entirely in memory, in your browser, at the moment the page renders — nothing about your conversations, messages, or the pages you view is recorded, logged, or transmitted anywhere.

Permissions

storage — used only for the two local values described above.

Host permissions (chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com) — used only to run the ad-hiding content script on those two domains. No other site is accessed.

Children's privacy

The extension does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised effective date.
