Futuring as the theme of Serey Sophorn Talk #5 has brought us to a new perspective on how we view the world. We started off by touching upon architecture and urban planning for infrastructure in some countries and discussed possible solutions for the rising issues. Looking at other countries around the world, we can point out the difference in how each nation prepares itself for the future.
One way to do so is to actually be in the country and experience the lifestyle there. We linked this to a sharing session on the experience of an international student in a foreign country. From the process of applying to universities in Cambodia and abroad, the interview tips and the factors students should keep in mind when making decisions on which university and which country to continue their undergraduate education were covered during the three-hour long session.
Regarding the time management of students, the speakers further mentioned the importance of engaging in curricular activities in both high school and university in order to develop and improve soft skills including critical thinking and problem-solving.
Furthermore, we looked into the process of project planning from idea brainstorming, team building, and project proposal, to the actual implementation. The topic of what will happen after graduation also sparked interest among the participants as we talked about the difference between what we learn in school and what we will do at the workplace.
SISC would like to thank everyone for joining this year’s Serey Sophorn Talk and we hope you gained some valuable insights from the session. We appreciate your active participation and support towards our guest speakers and the organizers. Many respects and thanks to our guest speakers and organizers team for being with us!
