Coordinator: Dr. Ravindra K. Jha
Ravindra is an assistant professor in the Electronics and Electrical Engineering Department at IIT Guwahati since 2020. He served as a scientist at the Council of Industrial Research (CSIR) before this.
He obtained his Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur and worked at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru for about three years in the sensor domain. His Nano Sensors & Devices (NSD) Group, at IIT Guwahati focuses on Solid State Sensors, Flexible Sensors, Sustainable & Transient Electronics, and Additive Manufacturing for Electronics. He has published about 50 peer-reviewed articles out of which some have received various accolades.
Ravindra is a senior member of IEEE. He is the governing council member of the Institute of Smart Structures & Systems (ISSS). He is also chair of the IEEE Sensors Council Kolkata-Guwahati section chapter.
Aminul (Institute Postdoc, Jointly with Prof Sumit Kumar)
Aminul is an IPDF in the Electronics and Electrical Engineering Department, IIT Guwahati. He obtained his PhD from IIT Patna and worked at TIH, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati around one year in graphene based ultrasonic sensor domain. His research interests include graphene production and their applications in Sensors, Flexible Electronics, and Additive Manufacturing for Electronics.
Shubham, Ph.D. (VLSI) July-2022
Shubham has completed his Bachelor's in Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Guru Ghasidas Central University Bilaspur(C.G) in 2021. He is a member of NSD group since July 2022. His research interest is in fabrication of nano sensors devices and interface circuit development of such devices.
Tushar, Ph.D. (VLSI) Jan-2023
Tushar has completed his masters from NIT Jalandhar. Before joining NSD group, Tushar was working as power optimization engineer with Qualcomm. He was a graduate technical intern with Intel. His proposed research work is on FET based heavy metal ion sensors which provide versatile detection of water contaminants particularly heavy-metal ions like iron, mercury and lead.
Arindam, Ph.D
(VLSI & Nanoelectronics) July-2023
Arindam completed his Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology & M.Tech (Masters of Technology) in Advanced Materials Science and Technology from NIT Durgapur in 2023. Just after finishing his masters, he joined NSD as a doctoral candidate in EEE department at IIT Guwahati in July 2023.
His research interest is in fabrication of nano sensor devices.
Rajesh, Ph.D
(VLSI & Nanoelectronics) July-2023
Rajesh is a doctoral candidate in the NSD group, pursuing his doctoral thesis in the EEE dept at IIT Guwahati. Before joining IITG he extensively worked with the Electronic Corporation of India (ECIL), a public sector enterprise under Dept. of Atomic Energy followed by another opportunity at the Ministry of Defence. Rajesh has a solid academic background in the area of sensor interfacing and has earned his master's in technology (M.Tech) from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela and a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) from WBUT Kolkata.
Moti, Ph.D
(Joint Degree Program with IIT BHU) Jan-2024
Moti is a research scholar degree program, VLSI and Nanoelectronics group, EEE department at IIT Guwahati. He has joined a joint degree program with Prof Jaya Jha (Electronics Engg., IIT BHU). Before joining IIT Guwahati, he worked at Carl Zeiss India Pvt. Ltd. and JEOL India Pvt. Ltd. at various positions. He also worked at the Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility at Manipal University Jaipur as an Officer Instrument, where he operated, maintained, and demonstrated high-end equipment like FESEM and XRD. He carries a vast experience in material characterization to Nano Sensors and Devices group.
Supriya Ph.D (Jointly with Prof Harshal Nemade)

Supriya graduated in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology and completed her Masters in Electronics Design and Technology from Tezpur University, Assam. During her graduation, she also had experience as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Warwick, England. Her current research is on prototype development of resistive humidity sensors. Apart from this, she is involved in several other research activities of NSD group.
Bishal Ph.D (Jointly with Prof Harshal Nemade)
(CICPS) Jan-2025
Bishal Das is a Ph.D. scholar at the CICPS, IIT Guwahati. He holds an M.Tech in Sensor Technology from DIAT-DRDO Pune and a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Jorhat Engineering College. His research interests include FPGA-based sensor systems, embedded hardware, and real-time data acquisition.
He has worked on projects like an FPGA-based E-Nose for VOC detection, UART communication protocols, and Lidar-based 3D scanning. Bishal has interned at NIELIT Guwahati, AEGCL, and the North East Renewable Energy Research Lab. He has received multiple awards for technical presentations and robotics competitions. Outside academics, he enjoys cycling, photography, and football.
Sagar Ph.D (Jointly with Prof Santosha Kumar Dwivedy)
Sagar holds a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. Before joining IIT Guwahati, he worked as a project intern on a MeitYfunded project at CDAC, Noida. He then gained industry experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer at a startup. Currently, he is engaged in the prototype development of a resistive humidity sensor. Outside of research, he enjoys playing badminton, spending quality time with friends, and going for jogs
Jhansi Ph.D (Jointly with Prof Ankush Bag)
Jhansi completed her Bachelor of Engineering ( EEE) from G.V.P. College of Engineering and M.Tech ( VLSI ) from NIT Jalandhar in 2021. She worked as a lecturer at Alwardas Polytechnic College from 2016 to 2017. In her Master's, she worked on an ISRO project " Design of Power amplifier for 5G applications". Presently, Currently, she is exploring Gallium Oxide based sensors.
Anita Ph.D (Jointly with Prof Biranchi Panda)
Anita earned her Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Central Institute of Technology Kokrajhar (CITK), followed by a Master of Technology in Electronics Design and Technology from Tezpur University.
Rashmita, Project Staff (2025)
Rashmita has obtained her PhD from CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST), Jorhat, Assam. Her research concentrates on the design and development of electrochemical and fluorescence based sensors/biosensors for the detection of analytes associated with neurological disorders and environmental contaminants.
Abhishek, Project Staff (2025)
Abhishek completed his Master’s in Physics from NIT Calicut, where he later worked as a research intern focusing on optoelectronic device fabrication. Outside of research, he enjoys traveling and exploring different cultures.

Vamshi obtained his degree in Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Sree vidyanikethan engineering college, Tirupati & currently pursuing an M.Tech (Master of Technology) in VLSI and nanoelectronics from IIT Guwahati. Sai Ganesh completed his B.Tech from Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology & Science(ANITS) Visakhapatnam in 2024. He is pursuing his M.Tech in Microelectronics, Photonics & RF circuits

Bishal is currently pursuing M.Tech in Data Science at IIT Guwahati. His current interest is in predictive modeling, deep learning, and multi-sensor data fusion.
Gaurav, M.Tech (2024-26, Robotics and AI)
Gaurav is currently pursuing his M.Tech in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence from IIT Guwahati, building upon his foundational knowledge from his B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. He is currently working on underwater acoustic anomaly detection, exploring the potential of unsupervised learning models to identify and classify novel underwater sounds. Outside of academic pursuits, you might find him strategizing over a game of chess, staying active on the badminton court, or sharpening his skills through competitive coding.
Vishiv, M.Tech (2024-26, Robotics and AI)
Vishiv holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Mahavir Swami Institute of Technology, Jagdishpur, Haryana. He gained industry experience as a Software Engineer at HCL Technologies for about two years before moving to IIT Guwahati to pursue an MTech in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.
