CASEL: Collaborative for Academic and Social Emotional Learning. A collaborative process for school-wide systematic implementation of SEL.
Social Emotional Learning: Process for learners to acquire the competencies to recognize and manage emotions, develop caring and concern for others, establish positive relationships, make responsible decisions and handle challenging situations effectively.
Self-Regulation: Self-generated thoughts, feelings, and actions that are planned and cyclically adapted to the attainment of personal goals.
Self-Regulated Learning: A cyclical process in which a learner plans for a task, observes their performance and then reflects on the task. The learner uses this learning process to to adapt and prepare for the next task.
Trauma-Informed Practice: A framework grounded in an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma. It emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety for everyone, and creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.
