Eco Footprint

Calculate your ecological footprint. There are numerous calculators online, each with their own benefits and flaws. Here are a few to choose from:

RESULTS

Document here what your results were when calculating your ecological footprint. Be sure to include:

  • the number of hectares
  • how many planets your current lifestyle would require if everyone consumed at the same level
  • what your earth overshoot day currently is
  • Remember to reference which calculator you used

REFLECTION

In your reflection please outline your thoughts on this measurement tool and any flaws that you noticed. What surprised you? Do you find these results to be accurate or a fair representation?

ANALYSIS

Use today's presentation from Laura Sacks and your EcoFootprint calculation. Based on the info presented, answer the following questions:

MUST WE CHANGE? Explain why.

CAN WE CHANGE? Explain how and/or why?

WILL WE CHANGE? Explain how and/ or why?

Goal Setting

What is a tangible action / or set of actions that you can take on to help reduce your ecological footprint? This activity requires you to:

  • set a realistic goal: What can you do?
  • provide a rationale for setting this goal. Why is setting this goal important?
  • explain how you plan to achieve this goal. What steps will you do to achieve this?
  • list as many actions as you can think of that this school can take to address climate change - remember every little action counts.
  • document and chart your progress over the remainder of the semester (through graphs, charts, reflections, photos etc.)
