The monthly "random acts of kindness" have made their way around online groups and classrooms. Instead of having students complete items off someone else's created kindness calendar, have your class create their own. Share a Google Jamboard and have students brainstorm things they could randomly do that are nice for others on sticky notes. Then, take their suggestions and put them on a calendar so your class can participate in their self-created kindness challenge.

Picture books work for teaching lessons to learners of all ages. At the younger level, you can read and discuss the book and its message. For older students, you could have them actively search for picture books that could be used to teach younger students about different issues. Students can present their found books to the class and curate a list. This resource could be shared with the elementary teachers, media specialists, or curriculum supervisors in your district. Your students could even put together a virtual library for younger students by sharing links to audiobooks.

BONUS: Have the older students record their summary so the younger student can hear a personalized message when they go to learn more about the book.
