Social Emotional Learning (SEL) provides evidence to show that the success of a child is interdependent on not just academics but also their social and emotional skills. With many schools focused on the holistic development of the child, academic intelligence and social emotional intelligence deserve equal importance in the development of an individual as a whole.
According to CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning) (2020) the formal definition of "Social Emotional Learning is seen as a process where children and adults learn, understand and manage their emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions".
