A Memory To Remember About my Parents & Grandparents
Once upon time, I Sekamanje Eddy lived with my Parents and Grandparents at different seasons of time here in Kampala and in the Villages. As a young Child, I grew up in different homes with lots of insights of wealth of knowledge to learn since all family members had different perspectives of life experience all round.
In my Village in Luwero District, is where I come from, a home to my Father Line. My Grandfather was Christopher Kamya Sserwanga and Grandmother Nakitende Sarah. They were agriculturalist peasants and as well conducted a life of some business from their occupations. My Grandfather Kamya had a coffee plantation on the home land and harvested coffee and sold it at different seasons. My Grandmother Sarah ploughed land and grew food crops for home and also had a banana plantation which she cared for and harvested bananas to brew Waragi alcohol for sale in Alcohol Market Vendors in Kiddandali trading centre. She prepared it by herself through the brewing process and did wholesale for it in 20 litres jerry cans to final traders. These Grandparents produced and prepared a product for Sale in the business economy and were business oriented people as a way to earn money to meet our family money needs necessities. My Grandmother Sarah also reared Goats, Chicken, Pigs and Cattle which earned her extra financial income, she was a business woman in my view of learning as a child in the family. They were inspirational still now in my life, though went to be the Lord and may their souls rest in eternal peace. They worked so hard to sustain us as a vibrant family.
Still more my Father is Sekyonda Fred was a very hard working father, he was a businessman as well as a Salesman, he was an agriculturalist, he grew up cabbages and sugarcane in his plantations for sale, he was a very creative and innovative father, made clay bricks for sale, he was a very supportive father that he was involved in the transport sector and had a motorcycle for boda boda to delivery people to different localities of destination. Daddy was a very wiseman that he was a leader in the family and Ngabi clan and offered a lot of family wisdom and everybody loved to listen and learn from him. Daddy could provide the best for his family and other people as God enabled him to achieve. He was very much loving of people and was a very friendly social father and on top of all was a very generous father to everybody and very kind in nature. I thank God for the life lived by my Father Sekyonda Fred, He was a very much different father in my view, and may his soul rest in eternal peace. My father went to be with the Lord in 2001 years ago, I will continue to honor you for what you achieved in life and will take on the responsibilities you worked on for a legacy.
In my other Village of Katooke Wamala, Wakiso District was my Grandparents on the side of my Mother. My Grandfather Kateregga William lived here and was a Businessman, Agriculturalist as well as a Social Father who associated with everybody no matter the age group. He was a counsellor to me and a Strong Pillar in the family and in my life. He was a very much hard working Grandfather in our family, he toiled harder to put food on the table for us all, he made bricks for sale as his older age business even when was at 85 years old till his death in August 2023 towards the end of the month. He constructed rental houses for business and living in, he accumulated much of his wealth in old age. He reared cattle and goats for money, generating a source of income. He was an example to me that a person must work throughout his or her life to live a well balanced life. And may his soul rest in eternal peace since he went to be with the Lord.
On more to note, was my Grandmother Nabuukera Florence, the mother to my mother; she was a hard working lady, God fearing lady who prayed much often and she instilled in us discipline and good morals. She was creative in her life as she lived upto 74 years of old age. She could weave mates, baskets in different styles. She was an agriculturalist, ploughed the land and grew food crops for the family. She loved us his children and grandchildren very much. She was welcoming of all people at home. And may her Soul rest in eternal peace, Grandmother went to be with the Lord in 2018. She will always be remembered for a life she lived well before us her Grandchildren.
On a later note still, my Mother Nantale Grace, I grew up here with her most of my time from Bwaise, to Kawempe and finally to Gganda Nansana Wakiso District. She is much caring, loving full of compassion mercy and grace to family and all people. Mother is a very hard working mother, life has not been simple but by God's grace and mercy she has simplified life for us as her family children. She has worked day and night to finance all of our all being be it food provision, clothings, shelter, medical care, education, any financial assistance, counseling and advice and name it all. She is mother of all seasons, day in or day out, She has instilled in us social morals and any other good thing you can provide for children as a parent. Mother loved us to truly know and love our creator God who is in heaven, she took us to church to learn and study God's truth since childhood. Mother has worked since her childhood when schooling and till today in her 50s years old is still working to sustain life. She has served tea business, sold clothings and shoes, worked in Nakasero market selling fruits mainly Pineapples, Sugarcane, Avocadoes, Grasshoppers which are seasons and many other fruits as products deals in for business. She greatly respects work and even some days like Sunday could make it a routine to go and work since she is our family breadwinner. She is a Key Stonger Pillar in my life and the family as well. We thank God for being a greater blessing to the family. She is approachable to everybody in the family and she loves family. Mother has given me and us a well lived better life ever, and pray for her that God keep her in His hands of protection and all every provision of good things for her. Father God bless Mother Nantale Grace.
God Continue To Bless My Family, God Bless Sekamanje Eddy!
