SEEDS Scholar Mentors provide guidance, training, and build relationships with students and community members to further the goals of collaboration around food justice work.
Jennifer Frost Moreno joined San Diego Mesa College as an Assistant Professor of Chicana and Chicano Studies in 2022. Moreno is an activist, scholar, and educator with a Master’s of Art in History and Theory of Contemporary Art from the San Francisco Art Institute and a Bachelor’s of Art from UCSD.
Moreno has conducted original research exploring the intersections of race, power, gender, and sexuality as seen in political activism, specifically, in the visual cultures of the immigrant rights movement from 2006 to the present. She is a third-generation queer Chicana who works closely with her community.
In 2020, she co-founded We All We Got San Diego, a local mutual aid organization that organized the County’s first ever FREE grocery delivery service. Additionally, she volunteers and organizes with the following groups: San Diego Mesa College MEChA, Armadillos Search and Rescue, Students for Justice in Palestine, Collective for Justice and Solidarity in Education, and the Chicano/Latino Heritage Celebration Committee
