Associate Professor Dr. Şebnem Yardımcı-Geyikçi is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Science and Ethics and the Sustainable Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the University of Bonn. She leads the "Artificial Intelligence, Power, and Politics" research group, focusing on the relationship between artificial intelligence, civil society, and state governance.
Dr. Yardımcı-Geyikçi’s academic journey is marked by her dual Ph.D.s in Political Science, awarded by two distinguished institutions. She earned her first Ph.D. from the University of Essex in 2013, followed by a second from Bilkent University in 2015. Her interdisciplinary research combines political science, technology, and ethics to investigate how technological innovations, particularly AI, influence political institutions, democratic processes, and social movements.
In addition to her current role at the University of Bonn, Dr. Yardımcı-Geyikçi has held faculty positions at Hacettepe University in Turkey, where she contributed to both undergraduate and postgraduate education, while engaging in high-impact research on political parties, democracy, and party systems.
