Sean Samitt is a Certified Pharmacy Technician with advanced certifications, and passionate Patient Advocate with years of experience across oncology, emergency, and critical care pharmacy. He began his career at a nationally recognized Cancer Center, helping hundreds of patients access life-saving treatments, before transitioning to the Emergency Department and Critical Care Pharmacy as a valued member of those treatment teams. Sean advocates for working across the Pharmacy Service to improve Medication Therapy Management practices and Transitions of Care. His clinical interests include oncology, pain management, infectious disease, and patient education.
Living with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type II, Addisons’ Disease, and Anti-phospholipid Syndrome, Sean brings a deeply personal perspective to his work having been on both sides of the stretcher side-rail. After a series of blood clots and over 30 surgeries to attempt to save his leg after developing compartment syndrome, Sean became a left below-knee amputee on March 15th 2023.
Since his amputation, Sean has dedicated himself to empowering the limb loss and limb difference community and strengthening partnerships between patients and healthcare professionals - especially his own treatment team! He serves as the Delaware State Lead for both the Amputee Coalition and the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, is a Certified Lead Advocate with the Amputee Coalition, and Clinical Advocacy for LessLeg MoreHeart. Sean is honored to serve as Co-State Lead for So Every Body Can Move Delaware, to introduce adaptive O&P parity legislation in the 2026 General Assembly. He is completing his BS in Health Sciences at Wilmington University and preparing for graduate study. In his near non-existent free time, he can be found watching documentaries, playing guitar or sharing bad puns and facts about our flippered friends!
Rick is an ABC-certified prosthetist/orthotist with more than a decade of experience in the field.
Rick specializes in prosthetic care for all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics, and truly enjoys the challenge of working with patients to restore independence in their lives. His approach centers on creating care plans as unique as the individuals he treats.
Rick attended Pennsylvania State University, University Park Campus, on a United States Navy ROTC scholarship. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, he entered the U.S. Navy where he enjoyed the honor and privilege of serving. Upon completing his service, Rick worked with special populations as an exercise professional where he built a foundation for helping people achieve optimal health. This newfound passion ultimately led him to the field of orthotics and prosthetics (O&P), and he never looked back.
After earning his post-graduate certificate in O&P from the distinguished Newington Program, Rick began his career as a prosthetist and later received his master’s degree in O&P from the University of Hartford. He now practices as a certified prosthetist/orthotist at select Hanger Clinic locations in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Outside of work, Rick enjoys hiking, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, playing with his children, and home improvement projects.

Stu Sherman has been with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware since 1994. He began as the Physical Director at the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club when the building first opened, and later became Program Director (1997) and has served as the Executive Director since 1998. In that time, the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club has served tens of thousands of kids in the Bear/Newark/Glasgow area.
Stu is very active in the community through volunteer efforts with the National Brain Tumor Society, STRIVE: How You Lead Matters, and Camp Abilities – a sports camp for kids who are blind. Stu has been able to provide Club teens with an opportunity to lead and volunteer at numerous non-profits, especially with these three charities. Stu is also an active member of the Christiana Rotary Club, where he has been a member since 2000 and served as a two-time President. In 2014, Stu was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow – the highest award given to a Rotarian.
Stu resides in Bear, Delaware with his wife Melissa, son Clayton and daughter Caroline.
Y4A Master Teacher and Administrator, E-RYT 500, YACEP, Level 1 WAE Teacher, Accessible Yoga Teacher Heather Thamer, E-RYT500, M.Ed, Y4A:Yoga for Amputees Teacher, Accessible Yoga Teacher, has been teaching yoga since 2006 and has been practicing yoga for 30+years. She has specialized yoga training in working with the military community through the Warriors At Ease program and has adaptive training through the Y4A Yoga for Amputees and Accessible Yoga Teacher Training programs. Her classes are mindfully structured, blending asana, sequenced movement, breathing techniques and meditation.
Prior to being a yoga teacher, Heather was actively working with and advocating for children and adults with cognitive and physical disabilities. She spent a decade working in a variety of settings including: residential and day programs, as a job coach, as a special educator and with Special Olympics and The Arc. Since becoming a yoga teacher in 2006, Heather has taught classes for all ages, specializing in yoga for older populations, those affected by cancer, limb loss/difference, and chronic conditions. She uses a mindful approach to teaching yoga and is passionate about making yoga accessible and enjoyable. With a profound appreciation for the benefits of yoga, Heather aspires to bring an empowering experience to her classes. Heather offers ongoing classes and private sessions online and in person.

Thomas K. Evans, M.D., F.A.C.S. brings over twenty-five years of clinical expertise to his current role as a board-certified vascular surgeon; he has been a member of the ChristianaCare community since 2005. In this role, he treats adult and senior patients for a variety of microscopic vascular procedures, including reconstructive and reattachment procedures, as part of the ChristianaCare vascular surgical team.
Dr. Evans earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA; he also studied chemistry at Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, and his fellowship in vascular surgery at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, NJ.
In addition to numerous clinical roles in vascular surgery held in DE, NJ, and PA, Dr. Evans has been recognized as a Top Doc by Delaware Today six times and was awarded the Physicians Recognition Award.
Currently residing in Delaware, Dr. Evans is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Medical Association and the Society for Vascular Surgery, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He looks forward to continuing his career as a vascular surgeon with the ChristianaCare team
