We believe movement is medicine and physical activity is a right, not a privilege. However, the reality is that every day, thousands of individuals living with limb loss and limb difference are unable to afford and access life-changing prosthetic and orthotic care that helps them be physically active due to inadequate insurance coverage. So Every BODY Can Move (SEBCM) is working to change this through state-by-state legislative action, expanding access to this medically necessary care.
This grassroots legislative effort aims to ensure that individuals with limb differences have access to the necessary orthotic and prosthetic care to enhance their mobility and quality of life. Unfortunately, many insurance providers classify activity-specific prosthetics as “not medically necessary,” which limits access and exacerbates health issues such as obesity, diabetes, and depression.
Take a look here at our mission and values, and learn how our SEBCM:DE crew is looking to bring First State energy to Delawareans. We are teaming up with leaders in in the disability space: the Amputee Coalition, The American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, the National Assocaiton for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics, and the American Academy of Orthotists and and Prosthetists to make the every day lives of individuals living with limb difference better, and enable them to chart their course of well being, health, and independence.
We invite members of the limb loss and limb difference community, students, healthcare providers, disability access professionals, and passionate leaders to join our efforts. This is a great opportunity to make an impact in the Delaware LL/LD community! You don’t even need to live in Delaware to get involved and spread awareness! There are various ways to participate, and on your schedule!
