Purpose  of  Practicum

My teaching practice at CLSU Senior High School, Philippines, aims to enhance my teaching abilities in an international setting, particularly in teaching English to students from diverse cultural backgrounds. In addition, this practice aims to improve my classroom management skills, as well as my ability to design and implement effective lesson plans. Through this experience, I also seek to broaden my understanding of educational systems in other countries and to enhance my confidence and professionalism as a future teacher.

Procedure of Practicum

My teaching practice began in the first week with classroom observation in my cooperating teacher’s class to understand the classroom environment and teaching process. In the second week, I developed the lesson plan, prepared the teaching materials, and conducted my first teaching demonstration. In the following week, I carried out my final teaching demonstration as the last stage of the teaching practice.

Outcomes of Practicum 

This teaching practice resulted in the creation of a blog report. The report documents my overall experience during the program, including classroom observations, lesson planning, teaching practice, and field visits organized by the host university. 

The Challenges of Practicum 

During the implementation of my teaching practice, I faced several challenges, one of which was the limited mobile signal that could not reach the classroom. However, this issue did not significantly affect my teaching, as I was still able to manage the class effectively from the beginning until the end of the program.

Overall Impression 

Participating in the SEA Teacher program at CLSU, Philippines was a very valuable experience that provided me with many academic and personal insights. Through this program, I not only had the opportunity to develop my teaching skills in an international setting, but also learned to understand different cultures, educational systems, and student characteristics in another country. In addition, I was able to improve my confidence, communication skills, and my ability to manage the classroom and design effective lessons. I also made many new friends from diverse backgrounds, including fellow participants, students, and teachers, which made the experience even more enjoyable and meaningful. The interactions I had created unforgettable memories. Overall, this program had a positive impact on shaping me into a more professional, open-minded, and well-prepared future teacher.

Suggestions for Future Improvements

For the future implementation of the SEA Teacher program at CLSU, improvements to supporting learning facilities, such as more stable internet access, are expected to ensure optimal technology-based activities.
