Beyond the classroom, the SEA Teacher program also gave me the opportunity to experience the rich culture of the Philippines. Living in Ilocos Norte allowed me to observe everyday life in the local community and learn more about Filipino traditions and values.
One of the most memorable aspects of my cultural experience was the warmth and hospitality of the Filipino people. Everywhere I went, I was greeted with kindness and genuine friendliness. This welcoming atmosphere made my stay in the Philippines very comfortable and enjoyable.
I also had the chance to try various Filipino dishes, explore local markets, and visit historical and cultural sites around the province. Each experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the culture and history of the region.
Learning about Filipino culture helped me realize how important cultural understanding is in education. When teachers are aware of their students’ cultural backgrounds, they can create learning experiences that are more meaningful and inclusive.
