How to get to GIS NTU Convention Center

The GIS NTU Convention Center can be accessed by Taipei Metro (the Green Line, Songshan-Xindian Line, or Line 3) or buses.

Taipei MRT (https://english.metro.taipei)
(Service hours: 06:00~24:00)

GIS NTU Convention Center is near MRT Gongguan Station. Participants are strongly recommended to take the Songshan-Xindian Line (or Green Line) to MRT Gongguan (G07) Station. When exiting from Exit #2, please take a left turn on Roosevelt Road. It takes about 3-minute walk from MRT Gongguan Station to GIS NTU Convention Center. The convention center is on the left-hand side; it is located at the same building as the NTU 2nd Student Activity Center building. [Google Map Route]

Buses (https://www.travel.taipei/en/information/bus)
You can download this application (Bus+ App (busplus.app)) for real-time bus information.

The Taipei Joint Bus System provides multiple bus line services to the GIS NTU Convention Center (MRT Gongguan Stop). Please visit the following site for further information: https://www.meeting.com.tw/en/ntu/index.php

The Taipei Joint Bus System includes general routes, trunk routes, MRT shuttles, mountain buses, recreational buses, and small buses. The bus fare of the Taipei Joint Bus System is based on sections (fare zones): NT$15 (for adults) per section.

Bus fares can be paid in cash or with smart cards.

One-section fare: NT$15 (for adults); two-section fare: NT$30; three-section fare: NT$45.

Most passengers will only need to pay a one-section fare. For 2-or-more-section routes, the additional sectional fare is charged at place of alighting if the trip crosses the interaction point (or buffering zone). The bus driver will inform you if you need to pay for two-section or three-section fares.

***Exact change is required when paying in cash. No changes will be given.***

Lightly swipe your smart card over the sensor zone, and payment will be automatically completed with the beeping of the reader.

***Passengers using a smart card have to swipe their card both upon boarding and alighting from the bus, otherwise the card will be locked. They will receive a transfer discount for the MRT, bus, and YouBike within one-hour after alighting from the bus.***

Taxi Services / Uber

The easiest way to get a taxi in Taipei and elsewhere in Taiwan is to go to a convenience store. One can either ask a clerk at a convenience store for help or use service machines in Family Mart (FamiPort), 7-Eleven (ibon), Hi-Life (Life-ET), or OK Mart (OK go) to get a taxi. (The taxi calling service at convenience stores is free of charge.) One can pay taxi fares in cash (or sometimes also with EasyCard or other smart cards). If you are familiar with using the Uber service, it is also a convenient and easy option.

YouBike provides bicycle rental services in Taipei and some other cities/counties in Taiwan. There is a YouBike 2.0 bicycle rental station near the GIS NTU Convention Center. The bicycle rental fee (for one-time users) is as follows: NT$10 per 30 minutes in 4 hours; NT$20 per 30 minutes in 4-8 hours; NT$40 per 30 minutes for over 8 hours. Less than 30 minutes will be counted as 30 minutes. International visitors can rent a bike by credit cards (non-members). Depending on your starting point and ending point, cross-area dispatch fees may apply. Please visit the following YouBike website for information: https://en.youbike.com.tw/region/taipei/rate/

Three YouBike Service Centers can be found in Taipei: MRT Zhongxiao Xinsheng Service Center (Exit #5, MRT Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station), MRT Jiannan Road Service Center (Exit #2, MRT Jiannan Station), and Xinyi Service Center (No. 421, Yongji Road, Xinyi District, Taipei City).

Car Rental Service

Taipei has a very good public transportation system. One can easily travel in Taipei by MRT, bus, YouBike, or taxi. One can also easily travel to different parts of Taiwan by intercity bus (from Taipei Bus Station), Taiwan Tour Bus (台灣觀巴) (https://www.taiwantourbus.com.tw/C/us/home), taxi, train, or High Speed Rail (the Japanese Shinkansen system).

Although car rental service is available in SongShan Airport and Taoyuan International Airport, participants are strongly discouraged to rent a car in Taiwan.
