- Research local and national scholarships. Add these to your list!
- Now that you’ve planned ahead and have a list, start applying!

LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Due: Postmarked by March 20th

Details: 1. Completed Scholarship Application 2. Essay (one-two pages, double spaced) 3. Counselor’s Certification (sealed and stamped) 4. Official Sealed and Stamped Transcript 5. Letter of recommendation from school official (i.e. teacher, counselor, administrator) 6. Photo (2x3 headshot recommended)

Details: African-American high school senior, graduating in May from a school in the Greater Kansas City area, have a grade point average of 2.50 or above after the first semester of their senior year, be a citizen of the United States, plan to attend a four-year college or university in the fall of 2016

Amount: one recipient of $1,000
Details: Graduating Southeast High School senior; 3.0 GPA; participant in extracurricular school activities; 7th semester high school transcript w/ ACT scores; 3 letters of reference: 1 community member (not a relative), 2 from professional staff at Southeast; typed essay of 300 words or less outlining career goals, accomplishments, major obstacles overcome, and family considerations

Applicants must be accepted for full-time enrollment at a 4-year college or university in the next academic year and pursuing a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

Details: Graduating senior (Class of 2017), Enrolled into a 2-year or 4- year University or College for Fall 2017, Completed Application and Essay Questions, A letter of Recommendation (Non- Family Member)

Details: African-American male seniors, prepare performance goals in personal, educational, community service, and career areas, to act as a basis for counseling by the advisory committee, include an official high school transcript and three letters of recommendation, meet with the Advisory Committee for scheduled interview sessions
REGIONAL Scholarships

Details: Of African-American descent in the age range of 17-30 years; Accepted to and attending an accredited two-year or four-year private or public college or university for the first time; Minimum GPA 2.5 on 4 point scale; and be Passionate about education and able to articulate how the education will be used and, convey via written essay what characteristics and conditions are present for the student that indicate the student’s ability and commitment to persevere to degree completion.

Details: Be a freshman in the 2017-2018 academic year and anticipate enrolling at a U.S. accredited college/university in the 2017-2018 academic year. Have a cumulative, un-weighted grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Students not on a 4.0 grading scale must convert their GPA to a 4.0 scale before submitting an application to the Foundation.

Details: Applicant must be a Missouri resident. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in the year of the award. Applicant must be a full-time Missouri college/university freshman in the coming academic year with an interest or intent to pursue an insurance, risk management, or actuarial science course of study in an accredited Missouri college or university.Applicant must demonstrate scholarship in the complete sense consistent with capacity and circumstances.
