What happens at my first appointment?
Your first appointment is an intake evaluation. Be prepared to talk about your symptoms, social history, and medical history. You may take some assessments prior to your intake appointment.
Health insurance requires a diagnostic evaluation which diagnoses you with a mental health condition and the formulation of a treatment plan using the medical model of care.
Do you accept my health insurance?
Your health insurance benefits are verified prior to your appointment, so you are aware of any co-pays or deductibles. This process takes about 3-4 minutes. Insurance cannot be billed for home visits.
Is telehealth as effective as in person sessions?
Absolutely! Research shows telehealth is just as effective as in person appointments. Many people prefer the convenience. Typically, patients are more consistent with therapy because they don't take off work or fight traffic to get to an appointment.
Telehealth increases accessibility of mental health services and improves appointment attendance.
Note: In our global economy, the world has become increasingly complex. People have more time demands, longer commutes, travel more, and live/work in creative arrangements more now than at any other point in history. That trend is only increasing.
