Purpose of Practicum
My practicum at the Basic Education Department – High School, Adamson University, Manila, Philippines, was a valuable opportunity to immerse myself in the teaching profession. The main goal was to enhance my teaching skills, understand classroom management strategies, and adapt to different educational approaches. Additionally, this practicum allowed me to experience Filipino culture and observe how it influences the learning environment. Being exposed to a different school system broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for diverse teaching methodologies.
Overall Impression
My practicum at Adamson University was an enriching and eye-opening experience. The faculty, staff, and students were welcoming and supportive, making my time there truly memorable. My Cooperating Teacher was incredibly skilled and always one step ahead of me, pushing me to improve while offering helpful feedback.
Teaching in Manila also gave me the chance to experience a different education system, interact with students from diverse backgrounds, and explore the city’s culture. This experience has strengthened my passion for teaching and my ability to adapt to different classroom environments.
I am deeply grateful to Adamson University, the Basic Education Department (BED), my Cooperating Teacher, our student teachers, my beloved Grade 10 students, and my friends from UAD who stayed and learned alongside me, making this journey both educational and unforgettable.
