After successfully teaching vocabulary to five sections in Mathayom 3 (M3), I felt more confident because I had already figured out how to control and easily get my students' attention. For my final teaching demonstration, Teacher Wan assigned me to teach Direct and Reported Speech to two more sections: M3/2 and M3/5.
Since I was given the option to choose any approach to use, I decided to prepare a student-centered approach using game-based and collaborative strategies. Given that I wanted to leave an impact on my students, I wanted to make our lessons memorable, which is why I gave a Filipino touch to it. I prepared some activities that Filipino teachers usually implement when teaching.
Luckily, before my departing flight, I prepared prizes from the Philippines, which I think would help me gain the attention and interest of my learners. I prepared a chip bag, which I labeled as “SEA-weet Knowledge.” The chip bag contains famous Filipino sweets and snacks. Along with the chip bag, I also prepared a PowerPoint Presentation and placards as part of my instructional materials. The preparation was not that difficult because I had everything well-planned as Teacher Wan guided me.
