On my way to Academic Council last night, a first year education student walked with me and talked to me about his courses, etc. I thought you both [my historical colleague and I] should know that he said, numerous times in our conversation, how inspirational the two of you have been for him. You have inspired him to learn more about history and to choose history as his teaching focus in secondary education. He is excited about the changes that have been made in the history department here and the refocusing of courses. He also talked about how the both of you complement each other’s work and that you are amazing teachers. I don’t often have the opportunity to engage in conversation with students (not as much as I would like) and when I do, it is often for reasons far from inspirational!

Even though I've only taken one of your classes throughout my two years at RDC, I wanted to thank you. Your class was something I was absolutely DREADING before the semester because it was a Canadian history course and I've experienced countless teachers and substitute teachers butcher and milk the fun out of it. Your class really surprised me though. You were an absolute wonder to have as an instructor because of your strong passion for the subject. As a future teacher, I hope that I can convey my classes with even a FRACTION of your enthusiasm and love for the art so that my students can walk away with a positive experience. You've made a huge impact on my career as a student and as a future teacher. Please keep doing what you are doing. Thanks again.

I hope you are well and your summer was awesome. The other day in my education class, we were remembering some of the great instructors we may have had over the years. And so, you are one of mine. You are one amazing instructor. Thank you so much for all your help and for caring about your students.

I was just giving all my former profs personal feedback as this is technically my last year in RDC (middle years is UofA). I have to admit that being in your class has a lasting effect on me. When I first started college I was coming out of the construction industry with little to no idea how to actually write a formal essay. History is a class that must be written down. there is practically no other way to properly record the events of the past and make sense of it without a good essay. I learned pretty much all of my writing skills from your class, and I owe all my success in college from HIST 373 and 374. I have never met a more passionate teacher such as yourself, you have a tremendous amount of knowledge in Canadian history and it is evident in every lecture and assignment that you build. Although I completely disagreed with your outlook on multiple choice quizzes at first (the Carpentry program was literally just M/C and that is what I was used to), I now see how hollow and non educational they really are. If I could take another course that you offer I definitely would. You inspired me for greatness and I am proud of what came from the 2 terms I had in your course. You are an asset to RDC and I hope my future students will get to learn from you.
