We were founded on a Saturday night in San Diego California by a citizen wanting to make a difference and with kind mentorship from our bigger-brother (by 24-hours), Los Angeles Mask Brigade and our mom Seattle Mask Brigade (who was around for less than a week when we joined the crew on 03/23/2020). We are also closely following and partnering with Masks for Docs and Uniting with Homemade Masks - San Diego County to help serve San Diego County.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has a special spot in the heart of both of our founders. One of us has a background in molecular biology and spent 7 years in a research lab, developing blood tests. The other is a PhD Post Doc, studying interaction between bacterial species. In short, we're biology nerds who have worn many (if not all) of the PPE we're trying to gather here. Also we're co-founders of a San Diego based 501c3 non-profit, San Diego for Science -- yes our website could use an update.

Honestly, our hope is to be made obsolete as soon as possible once the supply of masks and PPE stabilizes. We are here to collect and distribute the county's smallest stockpiles of PPE because frankly, that is where we're at in this fight. Until we're obsolete, we will work every day to connect San Diegans with access to masks and PPE, with those in need of these equipment.
