The visual above is an MTSS model that is proactively built from the outside in (Novak, Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, 2020). All learners receive Tier 1, where they have opportunities to access grade-level rigor and behavioral and social-emotional support.  Our Steering Committee provides resources and professional learning for tiers 1 (Universal Design for Learning) 2, and 3.

Learning Support Team Flow Chart

Purpose: The Learning Support Team (LST) is mobilized when students experience challenges in the regular classroom and need additional support, beyond Tier 1 instruction. The LST examines a student's academic, behavioral, and social-emotional progress and creates an action plan to support the student. The LS process is outlined in the flow chart to the left.
