General Safety:

Glass Fusion Requirements:
Use ONLY COE 96 glass.
Use firing paper under ‘raw’ glass for first firing and on some metal molds.
Complete firing tickets to accompany your pieces for the kiln.
Only trained firers, monitors, and board members are allowed in the kiln room.
Do not disturb a person while they are setting up the kiln for firing.
Club monitors will be available during designated hours to assist members.
Clean equipment and sinks that you use.
Dry equipment that may rust. When using equipment for the first few times, ask for help.
Mop any water left on the floor.
Make sure your work space is glass free before starting.
Brush off and clean the work table before you leave.
Put away all equipment or take it home before leaving the room.
Silver and Lapidary Requirements:
Wear your own leather gloves and eye protection when operating the buffering machines.
Use copper tongs to carefully set pieces into the acid pickle pot.
Empty alcohol lamps after use. Never store filled lamps in the lockers.
Lock the tool room and the studio if you are last to leave.
Take care when using investment powder. Do not breathe the dust.
Use asbestos gloves when removing pieces from the kiln.
Acetylene tanks must be turned off and the lines must be bled when done using the tank.
Investment bowls and their bases must be cleaned off before returning them to storage.
