Guidelines
High School Scholarship Chairperson shall form a committee to establish guidelines and criteria of counselors at the high schools shall follow when informing students wishing to apply for the SCRSEA scholarship, and
Contact the counselor of each high school responsible for Senior scholarships so that guidelines and criteria for applicants are understood and followed.
Select a committee to screen and review all the applications that qualify and select one student candidate representative from each high school: Rio Grande City, Early College, La Grulla, Roma, San Isidro and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley that best represents the criteria established by SCRESA.
Notify the school counselor and the winning recipient of procedures that will be addressed during the April SCRSEA meeting.

Grant Application Process: Classroom Assistance Grants are awarded to Texas public school teachers who, on a daily basis, demonstrate commitment to public education and Texas children through the creation of programs, events, or other learning platforms. The Texas Retired Teachers Foundation (TRTF) will award grants in the amount of $1,000 each to public school teachers in Texas for the 2025-2026 school year.
All applications must be received in full by 5:00 pm on Friday, January 31, 2025. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Applicants may apply individually, as a group/team or as a school. If applying as a group/team or as a school, please designate someone to lead the grant application process and serve as the contact person to receive any related correspondence from the Foundation.
The First-Year Teacher Scholarship is to provide funds to assist the recipient in purchasing materials for his or her classroom.
Applicants may download an application from the TRTF website beginning September 6, 2024. All applications must be received in full by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
The names of the scholarship recipients will be announced on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Winners will be notified by email, and the names of the recipients will be shared on the TRTF website and Facebook.
TRTF has awarded more than $190,250 in scholarships since 2008.
