Derby Workshops

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.  Parents and volunteers will help every girl scout build a car.  Just show up with your car kit, a few ideas and work with an adult to build a car.  This generally takes 30-60 minutes at the workshop (designing, cut, adding weights) and some time at home to paint, add decorations and add the wheels.  For complete workshop steps, see the attachment below...

You can build your car on your own, get together as a troop or attend the derby workshop if you need any help.

IMPORTANT INFO:

• Every child under 12 must be accompanied by a designated adult - Girl Scout ratios are not acceptable!...this is an important part of the derby experience, and makes sure all remain safe.  

RULES:

(1) Kids under 12 may NOT use power tools for drilling or cutting.  Kids 12 and over may use power tools under parent supervision.

(2) Anyone operating power tools must wear safety glasses and have hair pulled back. There will be people who know how to use this equipment there to help.

(3) In order to give everyone access to the tools, please try to get through the workshop quickly and finish the cars (paint, decorations, attaching wheels, etc) at home.
