On February 1, 2019, the Boy Scouts of America began welcoming girls troops into its Scout ranks. Our troop started with five girls and kicked off activities on Day 1! On February 3rd, girls participated in a special Chess Merit Badge workshop at the St. Louis Chess Club. Shortly after that, we welcomed our first girl who earned the Arrow of Light rank in Cub Scouts as she crossed over to Scouts BSA. We have been growing ever since. We are an active troop, participating in camping, hiking, climbing, shooting sports, and other Scouting activities regularly.
Our first patrol was the Trailblazers, aptly named as our girls have blazed many new trails in their first year. We were among the first girls in Scouts BSA to attend summer camp in 2019 at S-F Scout Ranch and Camp Hahn at Lake of the Ozarks Scout Reservation. We had two girls inducted into the Order of the Arrow in 2019, three in 2020, two in 2021, two in 2022, and two in 2023. One of our girls served as Camp Director for our district's Winter Klondike in 2020, another for Fall Camporee in 2023, and several girls regularly serve on staff for district camporees.
On Monday, February 8th, 2021, one of our scouts was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, joining the first class of female Eagle Scouts in the Boy Scouts of America. Since then, we have had six more girls earn the rank of Eagle Scout. We are very proud of our girls' hard work over the years to earn their Eagle Scout rank.
We are chartered by the Lions Club of Harvester in St. Charles, Missouri. If you are a girl interested in Scouting, or a parent looking for a girls' Troop, please get in touch with our Scoutmaster at the link below!
For families with boys, our 'Brother' Troop 533, also chartered by the Lions Club of Harvester, serves boys in the Scouting program. You may visit the Troop 533 website or contact their Scoutmaster, Dave Spies, at scoutmaster@bsatroop533.org.
