We’re glad that you’re interested in experiencing Scouting with Troop 750!
Youth
1. In order for a youth to join the Scouting America Scouts BSA program, a youth male or female must meet one of the following scenarios:
Be at least 10 years old, currently in the fifth grade and register on or after March 1st.
Have earned the Arrow of Light Award with Cub Scouts, and are at least 10 years old.
Be at least 11 years old, but have not reached age 18.
2. Come visit an upcoming Troop 750 Meeting and/or event to make sure everything is a good fit. Please contact us here to find out the best time for a visit!
3. If you are not already registered with Scouting America as an Cub/Arrow Of Light (AOL) Scout or with another Troop, will need to complete national registration via this link. This will have you pay the annual membership fees for Scouting America and establish your online account. These fees go directly to the national organization and are currently $85. If you are already registered with Scouting America, we will work to transfer your membership to Troop 750, and the preceding link should not be utilized.
4. Upon joining, a $35 joining fee will also need to be paid via this link. This fee goes directly to Troop 750 and covers your unit number patch, Troop neckerchief, Class B shirt, Troop 750 hat, uniform shoulder loops, and initial awards.
5. Every fall, Troop 750 does charge unit dues, which go directly to the Troop to help fund its program. These help fund awards purchases, Troop camping equipment, administrative costs, meeting materials, Troop-provided uniform materials, etc. These are currently $125 annually. These are seperate from Scouting America annual fees, which will also be collected by Troop 750 at this time.
Please note that some activities, such as campouts, require an extra fee if participating. Troop 750 does its best to spread out costs and to keep them affordable as much as possible.
6. A Scout must be up-to-date on Scouting America fees and any charged Troop 750 dues in order to maintain “active” status with Troop 750, meaning that they are eligible to participate in activities and earn advancement items.
Adults
Troop 750 Adult Leader Policy
In order to be considered as a registered leader (i.e. Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee member, etc.), an adult applicant must meet at least one of the following conditions prior to their application being approved by the unit/charter organization. The purpose of this policy is to provide an extra layer of protection for our youth membership.
Current relation to a youth member in the corresponding unit (Troop 750).
This refers to the applicant being related to one or more youth members in the unit they are requesting to serve as a leader within.
This includes the following:
Parents
Legal Guardians
Grandparents
Step Parents
Aunts
Uncles
Cousins
Siblings
Alumni Youth or Adult Member in the corresponding unit.
This refers to the applicant being a previous Scout or registered adult leader in the unit (Troop 750) they are requesting to serve as a leader within.
The exception to the above criteria is the role of Charter Organization Representative. This role is appointed by the leadership of the charter organization, Covenant Presbyterian Church, and may be an adult that has not currently/previously had connections with either Scouting unit and/or is related to an existing youth member.
Any situations of adults requesting to be an adult leader with Pack 057 or Troop 750 that do not meet the above criteria, will require review and approval by the Key 3 leadership of the corresponding unit (Charter Organization Representative, Scoutmaster, and Committee Chair) in order to move forward with their application. The decision to approve an applicant must be unanimous when extra review is required. This includes individuals referred to the unit from other registered and non-registered adults within the unit (including members of the Key 3).
If you meet the above qualifications, please proceed with the below steps:
1. Register with Scouting America via this link. This will have you pay the annual membership fees for Scouting America and
establish your online account. These fees go directly to the national organization and are currently $65.
2. The above application will also prompt you to agree to a background check (which the fee collected helps to fund).
3. Complete the required Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) training, and let the Committee Chair know once completed.
4. Troop 750 adult volunteers are not charged annual membership dues at the unit level.
