Unit Renewal/ Recharter via Council

Please note: you are not making an appointment with scout executive Jake Fitzpatrick to recharter, you may do this on-line then email charter agreement to Bob or drop off the unit renewal paper and charter agreement (attached) with the council. Please make sure you have funds in your UDA account if you are doing this.

(Fee for unit renewal/ recharter = $100)

The steps to renew a Boy Scouts of America (BSA) unit charter are:

Gather information: Collect information on current and new members, and verification of Youth Protection Training (YPT) for adults.

Log in: Go to Organization Manager at My.Scouting.org.

Select Unit Renewal: Click on the Unit Renewal menu item.

Validate information: The system will run a validation process to check for errors.

(Click here- most likely due to YPT of unit leader needs to be updated prior to recharter)

Once no error...

Enter your name ______

Click "Click here for Pay at the Council Office Option "

Message will pop up to confirm "Are you sure you want to pay at council?"

Create PDF

Please have COR sign the report (unit renewal paper) - If changing leadership roles/ position please update. (Reminder COR or COR Delegate may move leader position on-line as well)

Unit Renewal - Recharter on-line

Click Next Step: Unit Pin Review

Review and make changes: Review the information and make any necessary changes.

Sign and pay: Enter your name to approve the leadership for renewal, and then click Payment.

Submit: The unit is now submitted for renewal.

File the charter agreement: Obtain the annual charter agreement and file it in the unit's records at the council office.

The unit renewal process opens two months before the unit's expiration date. The unit charter renewal report package must be submitted to the council office by the expiration date.

We are still encountering issues with ACH payment/E-check. CREDIT CARD payment is smoothest transaction, but may renew members via Council (just print roster).

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FUNDS IN YOUR UNIT UDA ACCOUNT if you are renewing via council.

- New Volunteering parents will have their adult $80 joining fees waived ($65 membership + $15 Insurance)
- New Scout will have their $52 Council Service fee waived
- MUST submit completed paper form along with application

Unit Renewals + Members' Renewals

Unit renewal and member renewal are no longer one and the same. Membership is now a set 12 month term from the time of registering regardless of when the unit renews. Youth and adult leader membership are separated from the unit renewal.
