May attend PTA community meetings and events
May volunteer at school and events (with background check)
May donate funds
PTA Member:
Signs up for PTA membership and pays dues (sliding scale)
Votes on PTA business (including budget, elected officials, standing rules)
Committee Member:
Attends special or standing committee meetings
Helps to plan and implement events and activities
Special Committee or Subcommittee Chair:
Takes responsibility for making a specific event or activity happen (e.g., Kermes)
Plans and leads committee meetings
Gives periodic updates on progress to standing committee chair and/or board
Appointed as needed by executive board
Standing Committee Chair:
Takes responsibility for an area of PTA work (e.g., Communications, Programs and Events)
Attends board meetings
Keeps board up-to-date on activities within the standing committee and any subcommittees
Works with other board members and elected official(s) to plan overarching PTA goals and strategies, and to respond to community wants and needs
Appointed each year
Executive Board:
Fulfills the duties of President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer
Limited to two consecutive two-year terms
Elected by the PTA general membership
