The PTA is recruiting members and leaders of our standing committees. These are the groups that do the work of the PTA and make our school a magical community! Please email scottschoolpta@somosscott.org if you are interested in learning more about these opportunities! 

Standing Committees

Advocacy

State and local advocacy, serves as liaison to PAT, and advocacy within Scott community

Communications

Communicates about PTA activities via newsletter, social media, flyers, website, reader board, and calendars

Community Outreach & Relationships (COR)

Engages with different communities related to the school, with an emphasis on underrepresented groups; coordinates with SUN manager, social worker, and others; may include a subcommittee for Connexiones Comunitas

Program & Event Planning (PEP)

Plans and coordinates all PTA-led events, with the help of subcommittees, including Kermes, Fall Concert, Makers Fair

Fundraising and Budget (FAB)

Oversees and strategizes fundraising and spending, including plant and pie sales, capital projects, swag, restaurant nights, resilience fund, business sponsors, and budgeting

Green Team

Coordinates all 'green' activities, including school garden, Bottledrop, and Earth Day (coordinating with PEP)

Members and Volunteers (MAV)

Serves as liaison to members and volunteers, especially new members, and helps PEP, FAB, and SEC with volunteer recruitment and management as needed.

Nominating

Identifies and encourages community members to join PTA board. Identifies Elected Officer candidates.

Staff Appreciation

Plans and conducts events to show appreciation to staff, including Welcome Lunch, appreciation days/weeks for teachers/principal/custodians/etc., and Coffee Cart

Student Enrichment & Climate (SEC)

Plans and coordinates with school for in-school activities, including internal climate team, Back to School, Field Day, CTK, promotion, Popcorn Friday, Lost and Found, and Classroom Parents
