First PTA Meeting/Primera reunión de la PTA - Sept 23
🤝 Create connections:
The PTA builds and strengthens relationships -- between caregivers, teachers, administration, and the community -- to improve our school and advocate for the safety and welfare of all of our students.
🧑🎓 Support students:
The PTA organizes those fun, educational community events that make elementary school special!
The PTA raises money to help fill the gaps in needed funding for classroom supplies, yearbooks, field trips and more.
📣 Amplify your voice:
Members set the Scott PTA's priorities by attending meetings and voting on the budget, officers, standing rules, and more.
Your dues help support advocacy at the national and state level to create positive change in education.
As a Scott PTA member, you will be able to cast a vote on agenda items at PTA meetings - helping determine our priorities by weighing in on budgets, board members, and standing rules. All are welcome to attend and provide input at meetings, but only PTA members can vote.
By joining the Scott School PTA, you will also become a member of our parent organizations, the Oregon PTA and the National PTA, supporting work they do statewide and nationally to support all schools and students.
Membership is pay-what-you-can with a suggested donation of $20 ($3.25 are due to National PTA and $8.25 to Oregon PTA, with the remaining balance being retained by Scott School PTA). Membership dues are tax-deductable.
All Scott School caregivers and staff are encouraged to join the PTA, regardless of ability to pay dues — donations through our Membership Scholarship program ensure everyone has access. If you would like to join and cannot afford the dues, please email us at ptapresident@somosscott.org and we will take care of it!
A portion of your membership dues go to the Oregon PTA and the National PTA, who advocate for students and schools at the state and national level. The rest stays with Scott PTA and helps fund our local work supporting Scott students -- creating community through special events, funding classroom supplies and field trips, and more.
Yes. PTA memberships expire annually and must be renewed each school year. To maximize your impact, join as soon as possible in the fall.
No. There is no requirement to attend meetings or volunteer, but the PTA is stronger and can do more for our students with greater active participation! We encourage all Scott community members to attend meetings when they can and to volunteer when they are inspired to do so.
Yes! All members of the Scott community -- caregivers, extended family members, neighbors, and friends -- are welcome (and needed!) to fill our many volunteer positions throughout the year. A PPS background check is required to volunteer with students during school hours. Some volunteer opportunities are coordinated through the school, while others are managed by the PTA.
All community members are also invited and encouraged to attend PTA meetings, but only PTA members are allowed to vote.
