Feats of Strength (Aspire To Do) (Challenge Activities)
"Feats of Strength" are activities you should "aspire" to complete. These are typically challenges that will take you to new levels of success in your subject area, and most take significant time, work, knowledge, or a combination of all 3 to complete. These are optional challenges, but ones that you may choose to work on in the background over the course of your school year. (Note: Most rewards here will just be symbolic, but your dedication to the academic team will be noted if you manage to complete any of these.)
Feats of Strength : Newbery Beginnings
Embarking on the path of a beastmaster, one quickly realizes the importance of delving deep into the pages of lorebooks. To navigate the intricate tapestry of creatures and their mystical realms, aspiring beastmasters set a wise goal: to complete a collection of at least five lorebooks. These tomes become their compass, guiding them through the vast knowledge that awaits.
Project: Read any (5) Newbery Medal Winning Books, or Newbery Honor Books. These must be completed during the current school year.
Show Mastery: Score 85% or higher on any Accelerated Reader tests you take over novels.
What If I Don't Achieve Mastery?: If you score lower than an 85% on any of the Newbery book tests that you take, you can follow the alternate guidelines below:
You can write an accompanying book report about the novel you scored lower than an 85% on. It must be at least 1 page front and back in length. It must include a summary of the story, discussion of the characters, and your review of the novel.
Note on this Challenge: Any Newbery books you read for other assignments also qualify toward this challenge. You will need to complete (1) in quarter #1 as an example. That novel counts.
