Coach K began working us in 2019 and serves as our Head Guard Instructor for the SCIM Marching Band and Sand Creek Winter Guard programs. .
Cheyenne Tempest-Evans
Percussion Caption Head
Mrs. Evans is the Percussion Caption Head for the SCIM Marching Band and battery instructor for the winter percussion ensemble. She began teaching marching percussion in 2016 and joined the SCHS program in 2019. Cheyenne performed with the University of Florida Gator Band in 2011, including the 2012 London Olympics, and later spent two seasons with the Florida State University Marching Chiefs’ Big 8 Drumline, performing at the Rose Bowl and FSU football national championship games in 2012 and 2013. Most recently, she helped lead the winter percussion group to a 3rd place finish in their division at the 2024–2025 RMPA State Championships.
Nick Finley
Front Ensemble Instructor
Nick joined the SCIM program in 2024 as the Front Ensemble Instructor for both the marching band and winter percussion seasons. His support helped the winter percussion ensemble place 3rd in their division at the 2024–2025 RMPA State Championships. Outside of SCIM, he is the Associate Principal Percussionist with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra and holds a Master’s degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Miami.

Brass Instructor
Mr. Hoffman began working with the SCIM Marching Band in 2023 as a brass instructor and has become an integral part of our staff. He has performed across the U.S. and Europe, including venues across Europe, and has played with ensembles like the U.S. Army TRADOC Band and London Symphony. Mr. Hoffman currently lectures at UCCS. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Restoration Brass Ensemble and Nexus Brass Quintet in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Coach Bee
Asst. Guard Coach
Coach "B" is entering her third year as Assistant Guard Coach for both the winter and marching band color guard programs. She helps design show choreography and collaborates with Coach K on instruction. Coach B was a member of the 2024-2025 Anesidora Winter Guard group based out of Arvada, CO.
Jon Forshee
Composer & Sound Design
Dr. Forshee began working with SCIM in the 2024 marching season as our head composer and sound designer. He is the Instructor of Music Technology at UCCS and teaches in the Humanities Program. An innovative composer, Jon's electroacoustic works have been performed across the U.S., Europe, and China. His research focuses on sound synthesis, spatialization, early Western contrapuntal practices, and electronic instrument design. He plays the tuba, electric tuba, and theremin, and directs the UCCS Student Brass Ensemble.
Jadon Cruzan
Composer & Sound Design & Brass Instructor
Mr. Cruzan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory and Composition and is in his second year as an arranger and technology lead for the Sand Creek High School Marching Band. He supports the front ensemble with tech and performance needs, and also assists as a brass instructor. His original compositions have been performed by the UUCS Orchestra, Symphony 21, and the UCCS Brass Quintet.
