Instrumental Music Classes and Groups Available for students at SCHS

Tradition

The Sand Creek High School Instrumental Music Program has a proud tradition of excellence. Our students develop a strong work ethic as they carry that tradition forward with each new school year. The Scorpion Instrumental Music Program continues to grow and evolve, exploring new directions in music-making. We honor the past with respect while moving toward the future with fresh goals and renewed determination.

Core Ensembles and Goals

As it should be, our students' greatest musical growth and most meaningful experiences come from the core of the SCHS music program: Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, String Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Band, Marching Band, and Percussion Techniques. Each of these ensembles requires a year-long commitment to high-level music-making.We believe in teaching our students not only to play their instruments well, but also to listen deeply, to develop musical sensitivity, and to express themselves through music. Most importantly, we aim to instill the values of respect, hard work, and teamwork- persevering together toward goals that none of us could reach alone.

Extra Curricular Ensembles

In addition to regular classes, several after-school ensembles are offered, including Basketball Pep Band, Sand Creek Winter Guard, and Sand Creek Winter Percussion. Students also have opportunities to attend instrument-specific master classes throughout the year and are encouraged to participate in Chamber Music, various Honor Bands, and the Solo & Ensemble Festival.
