The focus of this AP Literature & Composition course is to prepare for both higher education and the AP exam in May 5th. Upon passing the exam, students will be eligible for college credit according to the policy of the college or university that the student will attend. Specific policies can be determined by visiting www.collegeboard.com and selecting AP Central. This course will focus intensely on enhancing strategies to analyze literary works, and examining the historical and cultural context. Readings will be far-reaching, and the expectation is that students will come to class prepared to discuss and/or write about the various readings. This course teaches students college-level reading, writing, thinking, speaking, and literary analysis; the college essay will be taught thoroughly. Because this is an intensive college-level course, a high-level of commitment is expected from students. This syllabus outlines the course for the entire semester.
