The role as a Safe School Professional-School Mental Health Professional (SMHP) is to provide support to all students, families, and staff within the school, at home and in the community. This support is provided at different levels based on the individual needs. The SMHP collaborates with other school personnel (i.e. our Administration, School Guidance Counselors, Behavior Interventionist, Student Success Instructional Facilitator, Student Advocate, Teachers, and Special Education Instructional Facilitator, etc.). Also, be part of the Multidisciplinary Leadership Team to provide in collaboration comprehensive services to students and their families. Teachers and other staff may make referrals to the School Mental Health Professional through an internal process and Infinite Campus.
School Mental Health Professional will utilize evidence-based nationally and internationally recognized instructional practices to interface with the educational process and meet the needs of schools, students, and families in the Clark County School District. We will be using a strengths-based and system-wide approach; focus on prevention and intervention by facilitating engagement between schools, families, and the community. We will be using our training in systems theory, advocacy, and cultural competence as well as the Code of Ethics set by the board of examiners for Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Professional Counselors and Mental Health Professionals, Social Work, to address the District’s Strategic Imperatives by providing direct services to students and families.
We will be linking children, youth, and families to community agency resources; work with the team for Response to Instruction (RTI); Intervention as a team with the Multi-Tier Systems Services (MTSS) on all three (3) tiers, especially in the Tier III providing targeted interventions one-to-one with the student clinically individually and during virtual learning through Tele-Health Services and aligning services to meet the educational needs of the students. We are expected to adhere to the District Professional Domains and Standards for Licensed Employees and will report directly to the Wraparound Services Department.
We also collaborating with a multidisciplinary teams within the school with great partners such as advocates for Children In Transition (CIT) with our day and night registrars for homeless and foster care students; as part of the: School Based Intervention Plan Team (SBIP) with our Principal, School Nurse, School School Psychologist, School Counselor from high school and adult high school; with the Operation Safe Voice; and with the Multi-Tier Systems Services (MTSS) with our Assistant Principal, Student Success Instructional Facilitators, Student Success Advocate, our day and night Educational Counselors, Math and English Project Facilitators and assigned teachers.
We are now learning in person at the school with all the precautions provided. However, during Distance Learning ALL services were provided through telecommunications such Tele Health Services, school phone and Google Voice, Google Meets, Google Classroom, or Google Hangout. In order to participate in individualized services we use a Consent Form for in-person learning and virtual learning that need to be completed and returned. If for any reason you are unable to complete this form and return there is an option for verbal consent and a copy will be emailed to the guardian or adult student.
El papel como Profesional de Salud Mental en la Escuela (PSME) es brindar apoyo a todos los estudiantes en forma individual, con la ayuda de sus familias/guardianes o parejas y tambien con el personal de la escuela. Este apoyo se proporciona en diferentes niveles según las necesidades individuales del estudiante. Nuestra colaboracion con otros professionales o personal de la escuela (es decir, nuestra administración, consejero educacional, intervencionista de conducta, defensores de los estudiantes, maestros y facilitador de instrucción para el exito del estudiante y de educación especial, etc.). Tambien formamos parte del equipo de liderazgo multidisciplinario para proporcionar en colaboración servicios integrales a los estudiantes y sus familias. Los maestros y otro personal pueden referir al Profesional de Salud Mental de la Escuela a través de un proceso interno.
Tambien utilizaráremos prácticas de instrucción reconocidas a nivel nacional e Internacional con base de evidencias para interactuar con el proceso educativo y satisfacer las necesidades de los estudiantes y sus familias en el Distrito Escolar del Condado de Clark. Usamos un enfoque basado en las fortaleza del estudiante y en todo el Sistema; nos enfocamos en la prevención y la intervención al facilitar la participación entre las escuelas, las familias y la comunidad. Usamos la capacitación en teoría de sistemas, defensa y competencia cultural, así como tambien el Código de Ética establecido por los examinadores para Terapia Matrimonial y Familiar, los Profesionales de Salud Mental de acuerdo a las estratégias del Distrito al brindar servicios directos a los estudiantes, sus familias y la comunidad.
Tambien trabajamos con el equipo de Respuesta de Intervencion a la Instrucción (RTI) como tambien los Servicios de Sistemas de Múltiple-Nivel: Nivel I, II, III en especial el Nivel III para cumplir con los necesidades educativas del estudiante en forma individual. Nos adherimos a los estándares profesionales del Distrito para Empleados Licenciados y se reportará directamente al Departamento de Servicios Integrales o Wraparound.
Durante este tiempo de aprendizaje a distancia, TODOS los servicios se proporcionarán a través de telecomunicaciones, como SERVICIOS DE TELE SALUD-Tele Health Services, via teléfono de la escuela y Google Voice, Google Meets o Google Hangout. Para que el estudiante pueda participar en los servicios individualizados, deberá completar y devolver un Formulario de consentimiento de Servicios TeleSalud escolar. Si por alguna razón no puede completar este formulario y devolverlo, existe la opción de consentimiento verbal y se le enviará una copia por correo electrónico al padre, guardian.
