IB Economics Summer Workshops
Small-group workshops for students entering DP1 and DP2.
Small-group workshops for students entering DP1 and DP2.
The transition into IB Economics can feel overwhelming for many students at first — not because they lack ability, but because IB rewards a very different set of skills than many students are used to in traditional school systems.
Strong IB students are rarely the students who simply memorize the most content. More often, they are the students who develop strong systems early:
• organization and consistency
• analytical writing
• structured thinking
• terminology precision
• confidence with diagrams and evaluation
These workshops are designed to help students enter the school year feeling more prepared, organized and confident before the workload and pressure of the IB Diploma Programme fully begins.
Both workshops are taught by Melissa Kendall:
• IB Economics Examiner
• TOK Examiner
• Revision Village curriculum writer/IA course developer
• Crimson Global course developer and instructor: Moving from a 5 to a 7
• UC Berkeley graduate
Many students enter DP1 without fully understanding how different IB learning is from traditional school. This workshop is designed to help students build strong habits, systems and writing foundations before the school year begins.
Students will learn:
• how IB Economics differs from traditional school
• organization systems for DP1 success
• how to structure analytical economics writing
• how to build strong causal chains
• terminology and diagram expectations
• common mistakes students make early in the course
• strategies for staying consistent and avoiding overwhelm
The goal of the workshop is not simply to “get ahead” academically. The goal is to help students begin DP1 with stronger structure, confidence and understanding of how success in IB Economics is actually built over time.

DP2 often becomes stressful very quickly for students who enter the year disorganized or uncertain about writing expectations. This workshop is designed to help students reset, reorganize and prepare strategically before the demands of DP2 intensify.
Students will focus on:
• reorganizing DP1 notes and materials
• strengthening analytical writing and evaluation
• building stronger causal chains
• terminology precision and diagram integration
• real-world example systems
• IA preparation and organization
• managing DP2 workload more effectively
The workshop is designed to help students feel more structured and confident before IA deadlines, university applications and exam preparation begin overlapping during the school year.
